here is how you avoid lying...
you say - even though there is a no evidence that the bible is accurate on this point, those who have faith in Jehovah, trust that this evidence will one day manifest and vindicate his word.
i recently gave a public talk, and i really felt bad about it.. it was the public talk about the great flood of noahs days.
the is so much evidence that this great deluge never happened, but that is something you can't tell the audience from the stage.
(i will tell about that evidence if people are interested, but it is a bit off-topic now).

while reading the niv study bible recently, i came across some interesting notes on genesis 6:1-4, concerning the situation before the flood in which the "sons of god saw the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.".
from what i had always understood (mainly by reading wts literature) these "sons of god" were angels that sinned by taking the daughters of men as sex partners.
however, the niv study bible, and some other bible commentators, mention that there were other possibilities:.
I have listened to the bible answer many several times discuss this topic and claim it is impossible for angels to be the ones involved, because that would violate so many of his cherished beliefs and make it possible for demons to impersonate the risen christ and for other reasons, but his stance is not based on the bible alone, but on saving his own beliefs, because he freely admits that peter and jude quote Enoch which specifies that these were indeed angels.
i am not a jevoha's witness...and i have some questions for you.. 1. wasn't jesus set to return in 1874 according to your history?.
2. if you believe the bible, the bible says that jesus came for the salvation of all men, not just 144000 of them.. 3. if only 144,000 people are allowed to go to heaven with god, then why did god send jesus to earth?
god's eternal life is a gift, not something you have to work for.. please reply
I don't think she'll find anything about 1874 there.Ya she will, that was the year Watchtower began its insipid publication
actually it began in 1879
the 1874 date came from another failed prophecy of Adventists who made the original core of Russell's original bible study group...
they were disallusioned and searching and Russell found a resonance when he told them that they were not wrong....they were just not seeing that Jesus really did come back just as they believed....but invisibly.... and that began this whole new round of the Emporers new clothes.....
the emporer is still naked (^_^)
is anyone here familiar with the book a course in miracles?
as i look back in retrospect this book was instrumental in the deprogramming of my mind from all the jw indroctination.
one of the most useful things i learned is to stop judging and you will not be judged, stop reviling and you will not be reviled.
I found the course insulting to my intelligence by pretending to be channeled from a mythical Jesus who is not even like the other mythical Jesus....however that said, there are lots of gems to be found....
as C T Russell is rumored to have said, and perhaps did say - if Satan speaks the truth, its still the truth.... so following Advise I found from Buddha - test everything yourself and use what works.
the course is made by two psychologists, why they felt compelled to dress it up as a religious fantasy is beyond me, but perhaps many would not have read it if it were presented as non-fiction in the typical style of researchers....who knows...perhaps they really were hearing voices, not for me to say....
I found many things ring solid, some a bit hollow...test for yourself....just like anything else you read.
reading another thread got me to thinking about my past sex life.
i want to know if my thinking is old-fashioned.
i was a virgin until i was almost 22. i married my first sexual partner.
Let me clarify a little bit. What I was talking about was past behavior. I have been remarried for 2 years now and I am a faithful wife. I am not addicted to sex or anything like that. It's just that I feel bad that there were times in my past when I seemed to be lacking in good judgement or in sticking to my own little moral code. I feel that I was not true to myself at various times in my life, if that makes sense, and I feel bad about it.
whenever you judge yourself by some arbitrary ideal fantasy, whether one you invented or one others imposed upon you, you are likely to not measure up as the nature of all ideals is to be static and divorced from reality. Rather than feel guilt, seek to understand why you did what you did and learn from it.... in the crap shoot of life, every move is a gamble, regrets over not playing 7s instead of the pass line have no value in the overall play of the game.... you win some you lose some and you move on.... accepting the consequences of each gamble is what makes a good gamer, regrets only get in the way of clear judgements here and now....a clouded view of your next bet is not the best view, surely?

i don't know if its just me or if anyone else feels the same but it really annoys me when jehovahs witnesses use their terminology when speaking to a non jw.. for example, a jw woman is talking to a collegue who has never had a bible study and knows nothing about jws.. instead of saying "i have a friend coming for tea tonight" the woman says " one of the sisters is coming for tea tonight".. or, instead of "i was talking to a friend on the phone last night" she says "i was talking to an elder on the phone last night".. it just really winds me up, i think they do it to seem important and mysterious but it only leaves the other person confused.
Yah, I always hated being called a "sheep"....even though I was one. Ugh.
sub conscious realization that shepherds fleece slaughter and fornicate with sheep (^_^)
who is the real murderer?.
cain who slew abel, or god who rejected cain, and according to most believers knew how cain would react and what he would do...and did nothing to stop him.. "am i my brother's keeper?
" could be translated as --- why weren't you watching over abel?
1) God was not wrong to choose to counsel Cain. Cain (like us) had free will in choosing to listen to God or not...the fault and failure was Cains alone.2) You could say that or you could say that God 'knew' sin/murder was crouching/waiting for Cain and so He chose to warn him so Cain could avoid a fall if he chose too.
3) Free will, free will, free will...When it come to obeying God or not WE HAVE FREE WILL. The punishment was God's to choose. If you think its odd, thats your right.
personally I dont believe in this mythical freewill.... however assuming for the moment that it is real... can you say God was blameless for setting this all into motion, after all if God had not intervened, there would seem no reason why Cain would have killed Abel.... and unless you think God is an ignorant dolt, surely he would have known what Cain would do...and that brings up the point of why does God show up AFTER Cain has killed Abel, rather than just before to stop him?
matt can't go to bed without the radio on, so he had it on a liberal political news station last night.
the topic they were discussing gave me a twinge of paranoia and i was hoping that maybe some of you could help me out here....they were talking about how religion is playing a big part in the war in iraq and everything.
and that made the little mom voice go off in my head...''i'm telling you jobeth.
everyones end may be just a heart beat away,
one day you will draw the death card just like everyone else, why worry about what must be...enjoy what you have while you have it
and do not worry about what you cannot change.

Since this happened after the Rebellion God is not oblidged to intervien. If the Rebellion hadn't occured and Cain raised his hand to murder Able yes, God would have protected Able. The issue of God's Law vs Lawlessness was now in play so He was not and is not oblidged to act. After Armageddon lawlessness will not be tolorated. So 'who is the real murderer?' Cain is, he ignored God's personal warning to him and used his free will for evil.
that all sounds nice if you ignore the fundamental problems, namely, God did intervene and supposedly knew the consequences of his actions.... from the story there is no hint Abel would have been murderered without this intervention.... so why did God intervene and then not stop Abel from being killed, but only show up afterwards...and then be so odd about the punishment.

subtle brain washing combined with subtle fence building....
by constantly using these JW words the average JW can spot anyone leaning outwards or inwards....they can identify subconsciously who is an enemy or a friend...they can tell who is apostate and who has been listening to apostates...etc.
they can create a mental sheild against anyone not IN....and especially detect those who are waivering and trying to help them OUT
